Join NJCDD’s Campaign to #SaveMedicaidNJ!
Beginning this spring, elected leaders in both Houses of Congress, along with the President, began work to overhaul our country’s healthcare system. Included in their efforts have been proposed cuts to Medicaid totaling over $1.4 trillion over a ten-year period. Medicaid is the largest insurance provider in the country and the single most important funding source for the support services that Americans with developmental disabilities and their families rely upon to lead healthy, dignified, and meaningful lives in our communities. Even minor cuts, let alone the massive cuts that members of the Executive and the Legislative Branches have suggested, would be catastrophic to our support system.
However, over the past several months, disability advocates have raised their voice in opposition to these proposed cuts. Thus far, our efforts have been successful.
But now is not the time to relax our advocacy work. We MUST stay active!
As a community, we need to be sure that our federal legislators continue to hear us, see us, and understand just how important the continued full funding of Medicaid is to us, our families, and our friends. We need to call on members of the public – those with disabilities and without them – to join us in this effort. And we need YOUR HELP to do it!
On our website, the NJCDD has provided printed materials, sample letters, contact information for legislators, and more to assist you in making your voice heard.
